MEET THE OWNER

Chad Kelly

Hello, my name is Chad Kelly, and I am a third-generation car guy. My grandpa built and restored cars starting with Ford Model Ts. My grandpa could build anything from a house to a car with his bare hands. My Mom and Dad collected antiques and classic cars, so growing up as a kid, I was always around cool vehicles. I grew up on a Kansas farm, raising cattle and caring for the land. Hard work was a daily occurrence. Besides working on the farm, my first job was owning a lawn service. By the time I got out of high school, I was maintaining more than 30 yards in my local town. I had to learn how to repair and maintain my lawn equipment. During my high school years, I modified my truck in every way possible, testing the limits of what a high schooler could do. I went to Wyoming Technical Institute after high school. My goal was to build street rods and classic cars, but I was at the top of my class in automotive and was offered a chance to go to school for BMW! So I went to New Jersey, living right beside New York City! That was an eye-opener for a Kansas farm boy. I constantly studied, rising to the top of my class while in BMW school, allowing me to have the opportunity to go work alongside master technicians at local dealerships after school. That gave me a head start and confidence in my automotive career. I went to Connecticut to work as an apprentice under a Master technician for a year.

Deciding the arctic weather of the northeast was not the best for working on cars, I moved down to Texas, starting my roots here. I met my wife within a year of being here, and I knew Texas was the place to be! I worked for many years at Advantage BMW and BMW of Austin as a Master Technician. Tiring of the dealership life and the treatment of customers and employees, I left the dealerships and went independent. Working for a local shop in Austin, I had to get out of my comfort zone and work on all kinds of cars, not just BMWs. I gained confidence in fixing all makes and models as time passed. When my wife got pregnant, we moved back to the Houston area to be closer to her family.

I landed a job at Christian Bros in Missouri City. While there, I developed a following of European car customers. Wanting more, I went on to fix cars in my driveway, getting to the point where I had too many BMWs in the driveway, worried about my HOA finding out! So, the search began to find our own shop. Thanks to my wife, we found our shop's current location. It was a challenging task starting a shop from the ground up. Luckily, I had a strong wife by my side and faith, knowing we could make it. Here we stand today, six-plus years at the shop, continuing to grow with the community. Nowadays, if I get time off, I enjoy playing games with my son, watching movies with my family, and cooking.
